Job Summary

Kiwa CMT is looking for a Geo-Environmental Supervisor to lead our team and deliver high-quality projects. This role combines hands-on technical work with team leadership, offering a great opportunity to shape project delivery and support the development of others. This role is based in our Derby office.

About the role

  • Line manage the Geo-Environmental team, including regular 1 to 1s and annual reviews
  • Provide technical guidance, support, training and mentoring to team members
  • Take overall responsibility for financial, operational and technical performance of the department
  • Manage and deliver a range of geo-environmental projects, including programme and budget control
  • Design and complete phased contaminated land investigations
  • Carry out waste, topsoil, macadam and related investigations, including scheduling, assessment and reporting
  • Ensure projects are delivered to a high standard and within agreed timescales
  • Liaise with clients, regulators, stakeholders, subcontractors and internal teams
  • Prepare detailed quotes, accept orders and schedule work
  • Undertake soil and groundwater sampling and ground gas and groundwater monitoring
  • Support the Head of Site Investigation with recruitment activities
  • Prepare samples and coordinate chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing
  • Produce Phase 1 and Phase 2 reports, remediation strategies and verification reports
  • Assess analytical results, including human health and waste assessments
  • Maintain sample storage systems and tracking software
  • Attend management and forecasting meetings
  • Supervise subcontractors

Do you have what it takes?

  • Degree in a relevant engineering or science subject (e.g. geology, geotechnics, hydrogeology, chemistry, environmental science) or equivalent experience
  • Full UK driving licence (essential) with willingness to travel frequently if and when needed
  • Experience managing / supervising a team (desirable)
  • Working toward chartership with evidence of ongoing CPD maintenance
  • Demonstrate a proven track record in contaminated land investigation and assessment with knowledge and experience in Phase 1 Desk Studies, Phase 2 Site Investigations, options appraisals and remediation design, supervision and verification/validation for a range of different types of projects and clients
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of project management of contaminated land and brownfield projects
  • An understanding of WM3 and experience in waste assessment using HazWasteOnline
  • Experience using HoleBASE software
  • Proficient at logging soil and rock to BS5930:2015+A1:2020
  • Relevant H&S training, e.g. CSCS, manual handling, asbestos awareness
  • Exceptional communication skills and interpersonal relations at all levels

  • £37,000 - £40,000 per annum
