Job Summary
Kiwa CMT is looking for a Geo-Environmental/Geotechnical Technician to join our team. This role involves both site sampling, testing and supervision of Geo-Environmental and Geotechnical projects, with on-site work and some duties based in our Derby laboratory. You will be responsible for conducting high-quality testing services mainly around the Midlands, ensuring compliance with industry standards.About the role
- Carry out Geotechnical site and laboratory testing
- Assist with Geo-Environmental reporting
- Complete soil and groundwater sampling, and ground gas/groundwater monitoring
- Prepare and schedule samples for chemical and geotechnical analysis
- Take responsibility and ownership for delivering projects
- Ensure that test equipment is checked regularly and functioning correctly, and that any failures, defects or damage is reported via current systems
- Use and maintain equipment with all due care and ensure that weekly checks are carried out
- Ensure that all necessary test information, results and QC data are recorded in the manner required by current procedures
- Maintain good site working practice at all times
- Manage sample storage and update tracking software as required
- Supervise of sub-contractors ensuring health & safety good practice and works specification are adhered to in the delivery of waste and site investigations
Do you have what it takes?
- Degree in a relevant engineering or science subject (e.g. geology, geotechnics, hydrogeology, chemistry, environmental science) desirable but not essential
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- H&S training, e.g. CSCS, manual handling, asbestos awareness (desirable)
- Communication is key for this role; you will be able to make an impact and work well within a team
- Relevant experience of balancing the needs of Customers and colleagues
- Be flexible – some possible overtime and weekend work applies to the role
- Willingness to travel frequently when required
What can you expect from us in return?
- £27,000 - £29,000 per annum
- Generous Annual Leave – Starting at 25 days plus Bank Holidays, with the option to buy additional leave and increased entitlement with length of service
- 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday, mainly site based role, with some work in the Derby laboratory
