Job Summary

We’re seeking a Head of Operations to lead and oversee the day‑to‑day performance of Kiwa CMT. You’ll ensure safe, efficient operations while driving continuous improvement across all processes. Based in our Derby office, you’ll be part of the CMT Senior Management Team, helping shape and deliver both the strategic direction and operational objectives of the business.

About the role

  • Provide strategic and day-to-day operational leadership across CMT operational departments
  • Lead, coach, and manage a high-performing team, ensuring talent is developed, supported, and retained
  • Build strong, collaborative working relationships across the Senior Management Team and wider business
  • Develop team capabilities through structured training and succession planning
  • Oversee operational planning, workflow, and project delivery, including the development and maintenance of a bestinclass project management process
  • Ensure the Operations team is effectively represented at internal meetings and external client discussions, supporting the resolution of contractual and operational matters
  • Drive operational excellence through effective processes and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide input and support budgeting, CAPEX proposals, and monthly financial reporting
  • Represent Operations in key internal meetings and customer discussions, supporting robust commercial and contractual outcomes
  • Monitor industry and regulatory developments to ensure CMT remains competitive and compliant

Do you have what it takes?

  • Proven senior-level experience in operational leadership within a multi-site or multi‑discipline environment
  • Qualified in a relevant business management or technical field, or equivalent workplace experience
  • A strong track record of delivering operational success and meeting tight deadlines
  • Skilled in analysing data and using tools such as Excel to support operational decision‑making
  • Experience balancing the needs of customers, employees, and the wider business
  • Skilled in building, managing, and motivating high-performing teams
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and problem‑solving abilities
  • Exceptional communication, relationship‑building, and influencing skills at all levels
  • Flexible, resilient, and results‑driven,
  • Willingness to travel when required

What can you expect from us in return?

  • Circa £65,000 per annum
  • £5,880 Car Allowance
  • Generous Annual Leave – Starting at 25 days plus Bank Holidays, with the option to buy additional leave and increased entitlement with length of service
  • 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday, predominantly office-based role with occasional travel to internal Kiwa meetings and external events/client visits
