Kiwa helps Quooker to ensure cybersecurity of boiling water taps

More and more household appliances are being connected to the internet and the popular boiling water taps from Dutch company Quooker are no exception. Smart sensors and advanced algorithms help Quooker’s innovative taps operate more efficiently and sustainably. However, with this connectivity comes the responsibility to protect the devices against cyber threats.

From August 2025, stricter cybersecurity guidelines under the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) will come into force. To ensure the cybersecurity of its products and comply with the new European cybersecurity requirements, Quooker has partnered with certification and cybersecurity expert Kiwa. Thanks to this collaboration, Quooker is well prepared for the tightened RED regulations and customers can continue to rely on a safe and innovative product.

In the video above, Quooker employees share how they worked with Kiwa to enhance the cybersecurity of their smart boiling water taps. They explain why connectivity is playing an increasingly important role in their products and what challenges this brings in terms of security. They also show how Kiwa supported them with a pre-assessment and RED testing.
