Sound absorption measurements in accordance with DIN EN ISO 354, DIN EN ISO 11654, and DIN EN 1793-1
In our accredited acoustics laboratory, we offer standard-compliant tests to determine the sound absorption of building materials, absorbers, and noise control materials. Measurements are conducted in a reverberation chamber test facility in accordance with DIN EN ISO 354, which enables the precise determination of the sound absorption coefficient (α) across the relevant frequency range.

Our testing services include:
- Measurement of the frequency-dependent sound absorption coefficient α (100–5000 Hz) in a reverberation chamber in accordance with DIN EN ISO 354
- Evaluation in accordance with DIN EN ISO 11654:
– Determination of the weighted sound absorption coefficient αw
– Classification into absorber classes (A–E)
– Specification of the characteristic evaluation curve - Additional evaluation according to DIN EN 1793-1 for traffic noise barriers, including the noise reduction class DLα
Typical test specimens include:
- Wall and ceiling absorbers (e.g., made of mineral fiber, wood, textiles, floor coverings, curtains)
- Acoustic ceilings and suspended ceiling systems
- Acoustic plasters, microperforations, and perforated panels
- Sound-absorbing materials in transportation infrastructure (e.g., noise barriers)
The tests are conducted under controlled conditions. Optionally, we also offer measurements with an air gap or on a defined substructure (e.g., to simulate typical installation situations).
