RED Delegated act application date postponed to 1 August 2025

The European Commission has recently announced an update regarding the application date of the RED (Radio Equipment Directive). On 20 July 2023, the commission published an amended delegated regulation (EU) 2022/30, specifically focusing on the essential requirements for radio equipment. This amendment not only delays the application date but also includes some corrections.

Sports centre Indoor Action first independent fitness club to qualify for FITcert in Europe

Dutch-based sports centre Indoor Action is the first independent fitness club in the Netherlands and Europe to go for a FITcert certificate and will therefore be assessed by Kiwa ISA Sport. Fitness is one of the fastest growing sports in Europe. With the new European quality mark FITcert, fitness centres can demonstrate that they work to the highest quality standards.

Kiwa sponsors Green Team Twente

Kiwa has recently become an official partner of Green Team Twente. This racing team, consisting of students from the University of Twente and Saxion University of Applied Sciences, has been building hydrogen cars since 2011 and has previously participated in the Shell Eco-Marathon. Green Team Twente is now focusing on developing a hydrogen race car for the Formula Student. Kiwa supports Green Team Twente with risk analyses.

Effective date for mandatory SERMI certification postponed

SERMI, the mandatory certification for independent car, body repair and motorhome companies working on software and components related to theft prevention, has postponed its effective date of 1 August 2023 until further notice. SERMI is expected to communicate a new effective date in the second half of 2023.

Kiwa now accredited for SERMI certification

Kiwa is one of the first companies in Europe that is now an accredited inspection body to authorize vehicle workshops according to SERMI (Security-Related Vehicle Repair and Maintenance Information). Soon, SERMI, the new authorization certification for theft and security-related vehicle data - will be introduced in the EU and several of the EU's partner countries (including Norway).
